Born and raised in the Grove Hall neighborhood of Boston, Isabel joined FII in 2010 as one of our first cohort family partners. As we grew our presence in Boston, Isabel helped recruit other Grove Hall family partners. While an FII family partner, she became a Certified Outreach Worker and a Recovery Coach. She attended Springfield college, and, by the end of her 2-year partnership, she became self sufficient — moving out of subsidized housing and getting off of welfare — and was able to expose her children to better opportunities. For the last 10 years, she has worked at Grove Hall’s Project Right, increasing resident community engagement by connecting residents to resources to become self sufficient thru First Aid Trauma response, advocacy, and rapid rehousing and connecting residents to individual resources with a strength-based approach. Isabel hopes to run for State Representative to increase the Latino voice in office.
